Watch: one screen, a bigger moment

A dedicated cinema experience for your Mac content.

• Bring a selected Mac display forward at cinema scale. Keep other screens live in a smaller parked arrangement or hide them for the session.
• Change canvas width, distance, height, aspect and curvature with live controls. Parked screens follow the canvas, and leaving Watch restores your previous workspace.
• Use the dedicated Watch page on Mac and the controls beside the canvas on Vision Pro. Switch the watched display without losing track of the selected screen.
• Play, pause, change volume and skip backward or forward by 15 seconds with supported media sources. Available controls reflect what the source can actually do.
• Fullscreen content can offer a Watch suggestion. You choose when to enter; suggestions do not rearrange your workspace on their own.

Picture light and a more flexible 3D toolkit

Let the picture set the atmosphere, with separate controls for light and surroundings.

• Screen Glow follows colors along the edges of your content. Adjust its strength per screen or apply a workspace-wide choice, including while using 3D.
• Control surroundings dimming separately from picture light. Clear levels make the requested atmosphere easier to choose.
• Watch brings 2D, Side-by-Side, Over-Under and Live 3D controls together. Adjust depth, separation and stereo choices without leaving the session.
• Optional Auto-3D recognizes supported stereo layouts. It starts off; a manual format choice takes priority.
• Improved live canvas resizing, picture-light scheduling and format transitions reduce interruptions when adjusting the view.

A redesigned, customizable control Dock

Keep your most useful controls close and in a predictable order.

• Choose visible functions, reorder them within their groups, and switch between Compact and Expanded presentation. Essential navigation and Exit remain reachable.
• Dock customization has its own clear editing surface on Mac and Vision Pro, with a preview, grouped controls and a reset to defaults.
• Your control Dock configuration applies across workspaces. Widget sets have their own workspace or Everywhere scope.
• Simpler production controls, larger interaction areas, clearer selected states and more readable labels make the Dock easier to use.
• Sliders, exact values, menus and scrolling have clearer ownership. Switching screens or panels no longer lets a delayed edit change the wrong target.

Eight widgets, rebuilt as a complete system

Small, Medium, Large and Bar compositions for the information you use every day.

• Clock, Timer, Battery, Now Playing, Next Up, Shortcut Deck, Quick Note & Clipboard and Stream Health form a configurable widget library.
• Every widget supports Small, Medium and Large. The compact Bar uses its own layout; Board shows full widgets. Larger sets page within a bounded area instead of growing across your space.
• Keep widgets together in a Bar or Board, or place supported floating widgets separately. Choose sets for one workspace or Everywhere.
• The Mac Studio preview and Vision Pro share their widget compositions, with clearer empty, waiting, disconnected and permission states.
• Existing widget defaults are preserved when upgrading. New size choices expand the options without silently resizing your saved set.

More useful information and actions

Each widget has its own job, with controls that fit its size.

• Clock combines time and date with session duration and optional break reminders. Larger compositions add an analog clock and, when available, a calendar time zone.
• Timer adds clear countdown and progress views, quick presets, an optional Focus-and-Break rhythm and a +5-minute action where space permits.
• Battery separates Vision Pro charge from the MacBook battery, with charging, low-battery, unknown and measured-estimate states.
• Now Playing brings artwork, track information, playback progress, supported transport actions and volume together. Controls can remain useful even when metadata is unavailable.
• Next Up shows the current or next calendar event, a countdown and Join on Mac. Large adds the following two events.
• Shortcut Deck supports Mac shortcuts, apps, key combinations and VisionDesk actions, with paging and delivery feedback. Edit decks on Mac and select them on Vision Pro.
• Quick Note & Clipboard separates writing, dictation and Send to Mac. Shared links and text have explicit actions; clipboard sharing remains opt-in.
• Stream Health combines connection quality, round-trip time, presented frame rate and a Capture → Encode → Decode → Shown pipeline. Missing or stale measurements are distinguished from real values.

A clearer Mac and Vision Pro experience

The workspace tools are easier to find, with more room for the task at hand.

• The Mac companion now has six task destinations: Live View, Arrangement, Screens, Watch, Profiles and Dock & Widgets.
• Live View makes better use of the window and fullscreen. Arrangement has a dedicated visual editor; screen-specific settings stay attached to the selected display.
• The Vision Pro control window organizes the session into Desk, Workspace, Dock & Widgets and Quality.
• Adaptive cards, native materials, clearer status readouts and refined typography improve narrow windows and larger text sizes.
• Updated first-run and permission guidance distinguishes pairing, connecting, waiting for frames and a live session, with more useful next steps.

Physical displays and Hybrid workspaces

Choose how your MacBook and external displays participate in your spatial workspace.

• Choose Virtual screens only or Hybrid on the Mac. Hybrid lets you include or exclude individual available physical displays alongside virtual screens.
• Remembered display identities keep your choices associated with the correct MacBook or external display across reconnects and mode changes.
• Capture membership, Visible/Dim/Black privacy choices and Desktop On/Off are separate controls with distinct status feedback.
• Physical-desktop deactivation waits for the headset to confirm a usable virtual desktop. Restore physical displays remains available for recovery.
• Recovery handling improves interruptions, changed display inventories and partially applied requests. Desktop Off does not promise to switch off a monitor’s backlight or power.

Workspace setup, editing and saved profiles

More deliberate setup, with better preservation of your arrangement.

• “Set up for…” proposes Coding, Writing, Meeting, Watch or Design arrangements. Review the plan before applying it, then use Undo if you want to return. When Apple Intelligence is available, type or dictate a request and review an on-device generated plan.
• Screen shape and Looks Like remain separate from streaming quality. Improved controls make distance, size, tilt, turn, bend and precise placement easier to adjust.
• Workspace-wide moves and curved-layout changes better preserve screen identity, manual placement and the relationship between displays.
• Saved-workspace management improves naming, duplicate-name feedback, individual and bulk deletion, and persistence before changes are reported as saved.
• Mac and Vision Pro synchronization reports what the other device has received. Reconnects and interrupted edits are less likely to replay stale changes or overwrite newer choices.

More precise input and left-hand scrolling

Keep interacting while the workspace and its controls change around you.

• In Pointer mode, look at Mac content, pinch your left thumb and index finger and move to scroll. The gesture can be enabled or disabled in Dock & Widgets.
• Arrange gestures have more reliable start, ownership and reset behavior. Cursor state is less likely to block a valid interaction.
• Remote pointer, click, drag, scroll and keyboard delivery handle readiness, interruptions and target changes more consistently.
• Precision sliders keep local edits stable during scrolling and synchronization. Exact-value controls and keyboard-accessible reordering improve fine adjustments.
• VoiceOver, larger text, contrast and Reduce Motion handling have been refined across controls, widget states and session surfaces.

Streaming quality, cadence and diagnostics

More control over how your Mac delivers the picture.

• Motion joins Performance, High and Max as a quality intention. Your Mac selects a sustainable cadence for the connected headset, display count and available hardware.
• Quality choices are applied earlier during display provisioning and kept distinct from logical desktop size. Live quality changes avoid unnecessary display recreation where possible.
• Capture, encoding, frame pacing and video transport have been refined to reduce avoidable work and recover from stalls more reliably.
• Stream Health distinguishes captured, encoded, decoded and shown frames. Network guidance is based on measured conditions rather than a generic connected indicator.
• Static content, missing measurements and actual frame drops are represented more accurately. Frame rates and clarity still depend on your devices, displays and network.

Steadier audio, pairing and recovery

More reliable everyday sessions and clearer recovery when a connection changes.

• Mac-audio requests, volume changes and audio handoffs are coordinated more carefully between devices. Turning audio off remains a definite end state.
• Audio buffering and route-change recovery better handle interruptions and changing output devices.
• Pairing, keychain access and reconnect attempts avoid overlapping sessions and better preserve valid saved connections.
• Decoder, capture and presentation recovery retain the last usable picture where possible, reject stale frames and recover stalled streams more deliberately.
• Additional fixes address entering the workspace, lost attachment bounds, interrupted Watch sessions, changed display rosters and Pro state during reconnection.

Expanded Shortcuts and App Intents

Bring more workspace actions into your existing routines.

• In addition to the Mac’s existing streaming and workspace shortcuts, new actions select screens, change quality, enter Watch and leave Watch.
• Vision Pro gains actions for connecting, disconnecting, loading workspaces, selecting screens, changing quality and controlling Watch.
• English and German intent vocabulary, clearer unavailable-state responses and more reliable action routing make automation easier to use.
• Actions respect the current connection, selected display and available Pro features instead of silently applying a request to another target.

Compatibility and access.

Requires Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 27 and an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 27. Use matching versions of the Vision Pro app and Mac companion.

One complete display remains free, including Mac audio and input, quality choices, Side-by-Side, Over-Under and Live 3D. Pro expands to two through five displays, Saved Workspaces and Precision Layout. The Mac companion remains free.
